GOLF throughout the UK has taken on a whole new dimension as we learn to live with social distancing and Covid-19 restrictions. But it doesn’t mean your enjoyment should stop or that you should stay home – far from it. It has in fact been demonstrated to have many benefits including mental benefits during this time of local and national lockdown.
Many positives have emerged, largely around hygiene and cleanliness through the new implemented standards we are experiencing as venues obtain their accreditations around being “Covid-Secure”.
Until recently our teams have been attending local clubs to see what precautions and procedures they have in place in relation to their “Play Safe, Stay Safe” protocols and how they have adapted England Golf’s Play Safe Frameworks.
Our teams have been working with Golf clubs and our clients so as to ensure that players remain safe and with Golf Clubs adhere to the Government’s Tier system.
In a lot of cases we have seen that clubs have been removing equipment including shoe cleaning air guns, benches, washers as well as on course ball cleaners and bunker rakes, so be prepared for this slightly different experience. You will also be advised to not touch the Flags, including putting with them in, so as to avoid cross contamination.
There are also a number of initiatives you can do and will be required to adhere to, but these may change from Club to Club, including:
- Sign in with “The NHS Covid-19 app”
- Wear face masks when registering / entering the club
- You may find it takes longer to sign in, due to social distancing
- You may be required to have your temperature taken
- You will be required to adhere to Social distancing rules
If they are open, restaurant layouts and dining options have now changed – check the resort’s website before you go, and follow instructions when you get there and remember that although there may be some inconvenience, but this is all about keeping us safe.
Depending on the Tier the Golf Club is in, your resort will offer table service for drinks and dinner, which means that things may take a little longer than we are accustomed to.
There will be all sorts of changes when it comes to your golf. Obviously, you are still expected to observe social distancing measures. Buggies will be sanitised and you may find that they are either restricted to one person of that they have been fitted with screens between users. Check with the pro shop to find out what you can expect.
Many venues will no longer accept cash, with contactless payments on debit/credit cards nows being the preferred option.
Whatever the situation our Caddies will be on hand to guide you through the reservation process and the restrictions you can expect under each tier.
